This single storey extension to a domestic property had an exposed single-ply waterproofing membrane finish, giving an uninspiring outlook to the property owners and neighbours.

By laying a Wallbarn flowering sedum blanket onto drainage layers and free-draining substrate, the owners were able to create an attractive but low maintenance and lightweight garden finish to the roof within 3 months.

The sedum will give year-round colour to an overlooked built-up area, help to insulate the roof, protect the membrane beneath and reduce the rate of rainwater run-off from the roof.
