Guardian offers enhanced Acoustic Calculator 2.0

Guardian Industries’ Glass Group in the UK, has introduced the latest version (2.0) of its Acoustic Calculator, an industry tool that helps glass and building professionals identify the best insulated glass unit (IGU) configuration to meet a project’s specific glazing requirements.

This latest version, available free of charge, now offers access to more than 37,000 calculated acoustic values, including octave band centre frequencies, from 125 to 4,000 hz, and provides the acoustic performance for some of the most obscure insulating glass unit configurations, such as thick glass and thick laminated constructions. The Acoustic Calculator 2.0 is mobile and tablet optimised.

The new Acoustic Calculator 2.0 is part of Guardian Plus, a business support programme for the glass and glazing industry within the UK and Ireland, that offers online support ranging from (instant) responses to technical enquiries to in-house or external training in glass and glass-related topics. The Guardian Plus Acoustic Calculator 2.0 is designed to meet the industry’s growing need to fulfil ever more arduous sound control requirements. Steven Scrivens, Marketing Manager at Guardian Glass UK, explains: “Today it is becoming more common for building projects to be specified with acoustic performance values.

These focus on the decibel performance and the octave band frequencies that identify the level of different sounds. Accurately identifying these factors allows us to more effectively take steps to reduce noise pollution reduced to accommodate the noise pollution in the selected project areas, such as airports, trains, traffic, clubs, stadiums, and so on.”
