Have your say on draft BREEAM UK Refurbishment and Fit-Out scheme

Following consultation with the industry and two years of development, BRE published its draft version of the BREEAM UK Refurbishment and Fit-Out scheme last month.

BRE comments that “with higher performance levels including the Government’s drive to zero carbon in new buildings, the importance of enhanced performance in the existing building stock has become more critical to reducing the impacts of the built environment. “

For the first time, a dedicated version of BREEAM for the assessment of non-domestic building refurbishment and fit-out projects is available via the draft BREEAM Refurbishment and Fit-out 2014 scheme, which the BRE hopes will enable clients to realise the limitations and opportunities for improving the performance of existing non-domestic buildings.

The proposed scheme is structured into 4 modules allowing projects to be assessed with flexibility, taking into account the scope of works for each individual project.

BRE is asking for feedback on the proposed scheme, which can be viewed here. You can submit your comments via email to breeam@bre.co.uk or by completing the consultation questionnaire.

The deadline for feedback is 29th August 2014.
