A fashionable health and fitness club has installed seven hemispherical surface-mounted stainless-steel bowls from GEC Anderson as part of a stylish but practical refit of its men’s changing room. The double-skinned C38 bowls are a recent addition to GEC Anderson’s extensive range of made-to-measure and standard stainless-steel products for bathrooms and kitchens.

The GEC Anderson bowls were specified for the central London refit by Sir Terence Conran’s Benchmark Woodworking company, a specialist provider of bespoke furniture and joinery for homes, offices, hotels, bars and restaurants. Benchmark designer Andrew Berry says the bowls are mounted on a gently curving zinc-clad shelf in the washroom area. “They replace seven similar porcelain bowls which were mounted on a wooden worktop. It is a busy washroom, in use up to 16 hours a day, and the original installation was deteriorating from continuous heavy use,” he says. “We had used GEC Anderson products in the past, and in this instance the C38 bowl was the perfect solution.”

The C38 bowl is 380mm in diameter and 150mm deep with a seamless double skinned construction for durability and lasting good looks. GEC Anderson Managing Director Martin Tye says the C38 was specially developed to meet growing demand for attractive and functional surface-mounted bowls for the residential market as well as washroom applications in the retail, hotel and leisure sectors. “It is equally impressive as a single installation or in a multi-station application, as the London application shows. The optional polished or satin finishes mean it can be used very effectively in conjunction with a variety of worktop materials,” he says.
