Hörmann Selected for CarbonLight Homes

Hörmann Selected for CarbonLight Homes

A Hörmann automatic sectional garage door has been selected by VELUX for their CarbonLight Homes in Rothwell, Kettering. The CarbonLight Homes have been developed to show that it is possible to build energy efficient, sustainable housing that is practical, appealing and comfortable for the homeowner, while being easy and affordable for the volume house builders to replicate.

As the design features an integral garage, an insulating garage door was an essential item. As the only truly insulating door style a sectional garage door was recommended by Hörmann who have supplied an automatic door. The LPU option chosen for the CarbonLight Homes has the best insulation available.

VELUX and the architect, HTA, selected suppliers and specified their products based on their unrivalled sustainability credentials, high quality and exemplary service. The top of the range Hörmann LPU40 automatic sectional door chosen for this development meets these key criteria, offers the best level of insulation available, and importantly, satisfies the need to be affordable.

David Newcombe Sales Director of Hörmann (UK) Ltd explains, “The whole point of this development is for VELUX to demonstrate that sustainability can be achieved now. Our LPU door is readily available for any developer or homeowner today. We have to be competitive on price and give real benefits, so not only does this door give energy savings but it is also more secure and is available in a wide range of designs and finishes to suit any home.

The VELUX CarbonLight Homes are designed and built to the new definition of zero carbon. They will be open to the industry for the next six months before undergoing a further twelve months of performance monitoring prior to being offered for sale.
