Hylands House, Chelmsford

Type of works: major refurbishment of vaults suffering from damp penetration and salt deposits.

Hylands House, circa 1730, originally design by Humphrey Repton, has undergone a major refurbishment of the west wing.

The Delta System 500 has been used to upgrade extensive brick-vaulted cellar areas. The vaults were suffering from the effect of damp penetration and salt deposits. Delta Registered Installer used 2000m² of Delta MS20 for floors, and Delta MS500 for walls and soffit areas.

Now that these problems have been addressed, the previously unused areas are to be used for a combination of dry storage, utility, and public areas. The building is now a tourist attraction. Parts of the building are also used for civil wedding ceremonies and receptions.
