Icopal supplies Noxite solution to Kent County Council

Sessions House, part of Kent County Council’s Headquarters in Maidstone, has recently utilised Icopal’s Total Torch System and Eco-Active Noxite. Icopal, the leader in building protection, was selected by G. Baker Roofing due to the environmental benefits its Noxite roofing solution provides.

The 3,000m2 Noxite project, which replaced a leaking asphalt roof that was suffering water ingress damage, used Icopal’s innovative Noxite to provide the perfect solution. Part of Icopal’s Eco-Active range, it has significant benefits to the local environment and air quality. The innovative sustainable construction material, which has a titanium dioxide (TiO2) coating to stimulate the process of converting harmful NOx particles into nitrates, reverses the surrounding air pollution caused by combustion - mainly from road traffic - to provide a cleaner, healthier environment.

Icopal, which provided technical expertise throughout the specification process to G. Baker Roofing, won the contract due to the extensive sustainable benefits the system can provide. Icopal’s Noxite helped address Kent County Council’s commitment to carbon footprint reduction, as well as reducing the environmental impact of the building over its lifetime in an economical and responsible way, together with addressing its current water tightness and roof failure issues.

Glenn Baker, from G. Baker Roofing, commented: “Having previously worked with Icopal’s team of experts we were happy to install its flexible Noxite roofing solution, which provides specifiers and contractors with a sustainable construction solution. The material, which gives significant benefits to the installer over liquid roofing, has fast installation times and offers a 20 year materials and labour insurance-backed guarantee.”

The refurbishment project began in March 2012 and is due for completion in August 2012.
