The hinge edge of a door can injure fingers as door-closers shut the door automatically. According to ROSPA, 30,000 children seriously injure their fingers in doors each year.

Until now this has been addressed by retro-fitting bulky and unsightly components which are expensive, prone to damage and vandalism and are often hard to clean or keep clean.
