Interiors inspiration with new training, tools and products

Glass and glazing specialist GLASSOLUTIONS has added a new 45-minute RIBA approved CPD seminar to its interior glass specification support package for architects and designers, along with new award-winning products and an online interactive design tool.

The 45 minute seminar by the Saint-Gobain group company gives detailed information about glass types, the latest regulations and numerous applications for interior glass within buildings. Real life projects illustrate how interior glass overcomes design challenges.

Kathryn Dalgleish, GLASSOLUTIONS’ Marketing Manager for the Commercial Sector, said: “Glass is such a versatile material which is often integral to the design of a building – both its façade and interior. We wanted to share our in-depth knowledge, especially in light of the recent changes (effective 1st April 2013) of Approved Document K of the Building Regulations (England), which relates to ‘Protection from Falling Collision and Impact’, so that more architects and designers can specify glass correctly, safely and with confidence.”

Initially available to customers in the South East of England and the Midlands, the seminar explains the key points relating to glass specification for interior applications and covers partitions, screens, doors, cladding, balustrades, guarding, overhead glazing, floors and stairs.

It also provides an explanation of the different types of glass and associated concepts: annealed glass; toughened and heat soak tested glass; heat strengthened glass; laminated glass; and includes information on the impact testing of glass and safety glass marking requirements.

Inspirational and interactive online tool
The CPD technical training is supported by a new interactive online tool available to all customers on the Glassolutions website www.glassolutions.co.uk/interiorglassinteractivetool. Here architects and interior designers can explore how to use interior glass in the design and creation of high impact office, hotel and retail environments.

The tool shows how different types of glass can be used in a range of applications including wall cladding, partitioning, feature glazing, furniture, balustrades, doors, shelves, mirrors and artwork.

interactive online tool Kathryn Dalgleish said, “The tool helps to inspire designers to use established brands and new glass products in different ways to create stunning interior designs. Initially the environments that are live are offices, hotels and retail but there are plans to add more in due course.”
