Shaped windows are a design feature increasingly used in architecture. For these special applications, there are two basic blind types: retractable and non-retractable.
Retractable blinds use a conventional headrail and operating mechanism; they have a tilt function and, where the shape allows, will also raise and lower. In most situations the 25mm blind is most suitable, as the step effect of the slats, where the blind is cut around the shape, is less pronounced than with 35 and 50mm blinds. All blinds are made-to-measure, and can be formed for arches, circles, trapezoids, polygons or hexagons.
Non-retractable blinds use a fixed rack-arm system, and thus only have a tilt function. They are ideal for rooflights and sharply sloping glazing, such as conservatory roofs, as shown by the application and facades illustrated. A comprehensive technical specification is available for the Hallmark range of blinds.
