Fläkt Woods is pleased to announce verification for its commitment to conserving the environment by gaining accreditation to the ISO 14001: 2004 standard.
ISO 14001 specifies the requirements for an organisation's environmental management system. It applies to those environmental aspects over which an organisation has control and where it is likely to have an influence.
The award recognises Fläkt Woods ability to implement an effective Environmental Management System. The objective of the standard is to lessen the environmental impact of the business, whilst still achieving profitability. The commitment and contribution of the whole organisation is a vital element in realising this objective.
In order to achieve ISO 14001 certification, it was necessary for Fläkt Woods to identify the portions of the business that impact on the environment and the environmental laws that apply. Now the Company has got the certification, it is required to implement an objective and targets plan to reduce and manage the Companys environmental impact. This plan is constantly reviewed to monitor improvements.
By having our Environmental Management System independently assessed we are making a powerful statement about our environmental credentials. This accreditation is clear proof of our commitment to the environment and the excellent practice that runs throughout Fläkt Woods says Kevin Ranson, EHS Manager at the Company ISO 14001 will also improve the Companys management of environmental risks both now and in the future, as well as bringing increased access to new customers and business partners, demonstration of legal compliance and overall cost savings in terms of energy consumption, waste and recycling.
