Jaga Chosen To Heat The Shard, London

In the face of fierce competition, Jaga Heating Products has clinched the order to supply energy-efficient trench heating to the five star Shangri La Hotel in The Shard - London’s most talked about new building of recent years.

The opulent and exclusive hotel is due to open in summer 2013 and will bring the Shangri La Group’s famed Far Eastern approach to hospitality and service to London. Occupying floors 34-52 of Renzo Piano's already iconic tower, the Shangri La comprises 202 luxuriously appointed guest rooms and suites - all with breathtaking views – plus a luxury spa, fitness facility and ‘’The Bar in Shangri-La’ on the 52nd floor.

Jaga Micro Canal units with stylish stainless steel grilles, are to be installed in the hotel’s international restaurant, food theatre café and bars by Briggs and Forrester MEP who have worked on the this project alongside WSP as the building service consultants. Hong Kong-based Steve Leung Architects were the interior designers for the hotel and main contractor was John Sisk and Son.

The Jaga Micro Canal was chosen as with a depth of 60mm, it was the only commercially available trench heating system that could deliver the required heat output of over 1200 watts at 75/65/20°C from the shallow and restrictive trench dimensions. Other important design factors were that its discrete design also complemented the chic style of the hotel, and its quiet operation at just 22db(A) which will avoid any aural disturbance of the diners.

Jaga’s Micro Canal trench heating will be supplied to site at the Shard as a fully factory-assembled and tested solution.
