Kaydee launches Intrashade integrated blind at Ecobuild

Intrashade

Kaydee Blinds – the leading Derby-based supplier of solutions for the control of natural light in the workplace– is launching a new integrated blind system, Intrashade, at Ecobuild which brings a new standard of operational flexibility to this sector, claims the company.

It marks a new departure for the company, as this product sees a blind as an integral part of, rather than an adjunct to, a window.

The system will allow operation of the blind with the double-glazed window unit in any plane and the blind can also be operated in any direction, from the top down or from the bottom up or equally from left to right or right to left. This unrivalled flexibility offers the specific benefit that the shading effect can be adjusted precisely to reflect the changing light conditions, as the sun or reflected light moves during the day.

An advanced magnet driven operating mechanism means there is a smooth link between the external grab rail and the head rail inside the unit. There is no mechanical contact with the glass, so glass panes are guaranteed to remain protected from damage for their designed life span. The sealed nature of the units also means blinds require no cleaning or maintenance during their life.

Kaydee has designed the blind system to fit within a standard 20 mm double glazed unit offering 2mm clearance either side of the internal head-rail. The fabric header rail ends incorporate brass roller bearings for added smoothness of operation. By utilising a honeycomb pleated blind material, the blinds compress to maximum effect, reducing the visual impact of the system when not in use.

Further operational flexibility is provided by the system’s ability to allow two different fabrics to be installed within the same window. Kaydee states that black-out, or dim-out or screen fabrics can be combined within the same unit, to allow a range of shading options to be achieved in the same installation.

By designing the mechanism within the glazing profile, there are no pull cords, meaning the blinds are truly child friendly. With a simple and robust mechanism and minimal maintenance anticipated, they are also seen as offering benefits within student accommodation, or office environments, indeed any setting where being sealed for life provides genuine maintenance and cleaning savings.

By combining shading with a window the company claims Intrashade makes windows just a shade smarter.

So this new blinds system offers genuinely flexible shading benefits throughout its operating life, and is designed to ensure all components can be fully separated on de-commissioning, and sent for re-use or re-cycling.

Kaydee is attending Ecobuild to demonstrate this new product. The company can be found on Stand S4018.
