Mr and Mrs Handley’s current Kent home started out as a field 28 years ago, “we were walking our dogs and found this piece of land, which really sparked our interest so we bought it, but it took us two years to get planning permission to build our family home” the couple describe.

The area is one of outstanding natural beauty, which meant the specification of the house was strictly governed to ensure it blended in the with the surrounding countryside.

Fast forward 25 years, “I promised my wife a new kitchen, but this resulted in a decision to renovate and extend the house as a whole, due to the fact it was originally built in the 1980s meaning the fashions had changed and it needed a bit of a facelift” Mr Handley explains.

The project included an extension that now features 4 sets of French doors, and the master bedroom has an oversized set of French doors, flooding the room with light and overlooking the garden and nearby fields, with a Juliet balcony to be added shortly.

“Our house started out with very dark, mahogany windows with a complex lead design, but once we’d seen a friend’s house with a French Grey coloured windows we loved the look of them, so we decided to go for similar.”

Flush Casement Windows
Stylish and classic timber flush casement windows with leaded light detailing were specified for the Handley’s home, in a popular finish of ‘Pebble Grey’.

Entrance Door
For the Handley’s new front door, after looking at the various styles available, opted for a traditional Bevington entrance door from the Dale Joinery range. Finished in ‘Pebble Grey’ as with the windows.

French Doors
For the extension at the rear of the property, multiple sets of French doors were installed, allowing the homeowner and their beloved dog easy access in and out of their brand new garden.
