Type of works: installation of RONDOR™ automatic door system.

Creating a contemporary architectural feature, a TORMAX™ circular-sliding RONDOR™ automatic door system has been installed to the main entrance of Kestrel Court, a new development of managed workspace at Portishead near Bristol. Technologically advanced, the door comprises two sets of curved sliding doors which operate independently, effectively minimising heat loss from the building whilst allowing fast and efficient access for visitors. Not only does the RONDOR™ look impressive, it is also highly functional, delivering an opening space of up to 50% more than if traditional sliding doors were installed in the same location.

Kestrel Court provides high quality, flexible office and studio/workshop space catering for new and dynamic businesses. Having successfully installed a TORMAX TEP™ single sliding automatic entrance at Kestrel Court in Gloucester, TORMAX™ was invited to tender for the main entrance to the eight-million pound Portishead development, which opened in August 2007. “The distinctive curved frontage accurately reflects the emphasis we place on high quality facilities,” comments Nigel Brookes, Development Director for Kestrel Court. “It is important that the main reception should create a good impression with customers arriving to meet with our tenants."

Reliability is assured with the RONDOR™ being powered by technologically advanced TORMAX TEP™ operators that are neatly housed within the circular casing. An out-of-hours access control panel ensures security for the site, whilst hold-open and closing speeds can be easily adjusted to maximise pedestrian flow depending on the time of day.

TORMAX™ worked with the architects on the project, Taylor Seymour to assess different door options before finalising the RONDOR™. Working to tight timescales set by the main contractor Barnwood Construction, the TORMAX team of trained installers completed the project within deadline.
