Simon Orr has been appointed as Commercial Director at Kingspan Access Floors following the retirement of Mike Stone after 18 years with the company. Mr Orr has spent 16 years with Kingspan Access Floors, beginning as a Quantity Surveyor and then becoming Senior Quantity Surveyor before being appointed as Regional Contracts Manager for the North eight years ago.

In his new role he is responsible for three departments; Specification Sales, Contracting Sales and Estimating. He said: “I’m really looking forward to the challenges ahead and building on the progress that has already been made. We have a number of substantial contracts in the pipeline and have just launched an innovative new floor finish. We are also making continued investments in our R&D operations and also in our commitment to Building Information Modelling (BIM).”

Mr Orr, who graduated from Leeds University with a degree in quantity surveying, is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Mike Stone began his career with Kingspan by spending five years as Estimating Manager before becoming Sales Director 13 years ago. He has worked for over 40 years in the construction industry, in estimating and sales roles in the flooring, cladding and steelwork sectors.
