High performance Kingspan Therma Duct Insulation has been used during the construction of the new £10m Silverstone University Technical College (UTC), helping it to achieve a BREEAM rating of ‘Very Good’.

Based at the world renowned Silverstone Race Circuit in Northampton, Silverstone UTC is one of the government’s flagship University Technical Colleges. Created through a partnership between Silverstone Circuits, Tresham College and the University of Northampton, young people aged 14 to 19 will have the opportunity to study a technically orientated curriculum in either high performance engineering or events management.

Designed by HKS and overseen by Interserve construction, 700 m2 of Kingspan Therma Duct insulation was installed by Gill Insulation on the roof top for both the rectangular and round ducting.

Kingspan Therma Duct Insulation offers high performance thermal insulation for rectangular, circular and flat oval ductwork, and associated HVAC equipment for installation outdoors. It can achieve a thermal conductivity as low as 0.022 W/m.K and has a BRE Green Guide rating of A+.

Available in thicknesses of 20, 25, 30, 40 & 50 mm, Kingspan Therma Duct Insulation is suitable for external HVAC and building services applications on both new build and refurbishment projects in the residential, commercial, institutional and industrial sectors.

The fibre-free rigid thermoset PIR insulation core of the Kingspan Therma Duct Insulation is manufactured with a blowing agent that has zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP).
