Kingspan Thermatile Gets to Work
Kingspan Thermatile, one of Kingspan Insulated Panels complete wall and facade systems, has been used for the building envelope of two office buildings that form part of Newcastle Great Park (NGP).
Situated just three miles from Newcastle city centre, NGP is a sustainable urban development where developer Esh Space is building high-quality commercial properties.
As architects for the project, Ryder Architecture were looking to create a crisp, elegant, speculative block to act as a catalyst for the business park. They explored a number of rainscreen possibilities for the offices and eventually specified Kingspan Thermatile, as it ticked all the boxes in terms of aesthetics, cost and time.
1,320m2 of Kingspan Thermatile, mainly in Ash with Slate around the entrance, were installed by Roofclad Systems on the two units.
Phil Allison, Contracts Manager for Roofclad Systems said: We were very happy with the product and its ease of installation. Our operatives were sent to Kingspan in north Wales for comprehensive training in the installation of the product. The spacing accessories made the installation of the tiles quick and simple even the curved fascia, while the composite panel was as straight forward as ever. Another great system from Kingspan Panels.
Kingspan Thermatile is an innovative method of construction that combines the benefits of constructing with insulated panels with the aesthetic appeal and design flexibility of ceramic tiles. The supporting rails can be mounted on the insulated panels at a time that suits the contractor removing the architectural facade from the critical path.
The system is simple to install, and is easily integrated with openings such as windows and doors. It can also be combined with other cladding products such as curtain walling, glazing and Kingspans different wall and facade systems allowing designers to create individual facade designs and buildings, thus incorporating various innovative systems for both new build and refurbishment projects.
The Kingspan Thermatile system has an ECOsafe insulation core, containing no CFCs or HCFCs with a low Global Warming Potential, achieves an A+ rating according to the Green Guide to Specification and is available in FIREsafe LPCB insurer-approved form for assured fire performance. It is also fibre-free, removing the risk of loose fibres being released and causing irritation.
