Knauf Makes Drywall Specification Even Simpler

Drywall specification becomes even more simple with the new partition system selector from Knauf Drywall. With optimum solutions already designed for the majority of applications, the latest Knauf Drywall initiative enables specifiers to pick the best partition design for any type of building – and then quickly to produce specification documents and materials requirements by using Knauf Drywall’s unique online Partition Specifier tool.

Launched in the just-released latest edition of Knauf Drywall’s free Complete Drywall Manual, the system selector identifies five main partition types which cover all common requirements for fire resistance, sound reduction, partition width and height. Within the range are sector-optimised configurations for residential, commercial, educational and healthcare applications. The system selector has built-in flexibility – giving the specifier freedom to tailor-make any solution or upgrade to a higher or unique specification.

Knauf Drywall Marketing Manager Bob Stark says the new system selector has been developed to give specifiers an easy path through the myriad of partition options available – from 77-400mm wide, up to 11m high, and providing up to 74dB (Rw) sound reduction and 120 minutes’ fire resistance. “We have integrated our resources to provide high-performance, simple-to-implement solutions that meet sector-relevant requirements such as the Building Regulations, the Code for Sustainable Homes, Health Technical Memoranda and the education sector’s Building Bulletins,” he says.

The five systems are:
Knauf Performer – the most versatile partition solution, meeting nearly all performance requirements across the four major market sectors. It is a strong, lightweight solution that is easy to install, requiring the minimum of components.

Knauf Easybuild – the optimum solution for internal residential partitions, using purpose designed Knauf products to achieve 40dB (Rw) sound reduction and 30 minutes’ fire resistance in an 82mm construction, up to 2,600mm high.

Knauf Silent Spacesaver – combines high acoustic performance and narrow width in a system that is lightweight and quick to install. It is the ideal solution for applications in all sectors where space is at a premium, and high levels of sound reduction are required.

Knauf Isolator – the twin frame solution developed for exceptional sound reduction, especially in residential and commercial buildings. It incorporates high performance Knauf Plasterboards and insulation to combine the best possible sound isolation and privacy with the benefits of drywall construction.

Knauf Shaftwall – the innovative system to form enclosures around service and lift shafts in all sectors. It is perfect for situations where access from one side is restricted – and it provides superior fire performance in a simple construction.

The most popular specifications of all five partition systems are detailed in the new edition of The Complete Drywall Manual. Full performance tables are also provided.

Knauf Drywall manufactures a full range of plasters, plasterboards, insulating laminates, dry flooring, drywall accessories, and metal sections for domestic, commercial and public sector applications. Knauf Drywall pioneered carbon neutral plasterboard in the UK with Knauf Futurepanel. Knauf Drywall also actively promotes recycling from building sites and has a zero waste policy in its energy efficient factories at Sittingbourne in Kent and Immingham on Humberside.
