Knowsley Schools

10 Mar 2010

Client: Knowsley Schools BSF
Architect: Aedas
Contractor: Transform Schools
Type of works: supply of movable walls to enhance teaching areas and multi-use halls.

The Knowsley Schools BSF project, delivering seven Learning Centres across the Borough of Knowsley, was constructed by Balfour Beatty’s concession company, Transform Schools and designed by Aedas.

The first of the seven Learning Centres was opened in January 2009 and the last has recently been completed ready for handover.

The Learning Centres feature Alco Beldan movable walls in teaching areas and multi-use halls. The movable walls allow the open-plan teaching areas to be divided into smaller classrooms according to the ever-changing needs of the pupils and staff.

The multi-use halls also benefit from the flexibility that the movable walls offer and can be used simultaneously for a variety of different activities.

The flexibility that Alco Beldan’s movable walls provide is key to the forward thinking design of these 21st century schools.
