KONE lifts chosen for Stratford City development

KONE Corporation, one of the global leaders in the lift and escalator industry, has been appointed by developer Lendlease as the contractor to supply and install 26 lifts to Buildings S5 and S6 at The International Quarter (TIQ) development in Stratford, London. Renowned architecture firm Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners has designed the project as part of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park regeneration following on from the London 2012 Olympic Games. The project is creating London's fourth business district.

KONE will deliver both goods and passenger lifts including the award-winning KONE MonoSpace® and KONE MiniSpace(TM) units. Some of the lifts will also feature the KONE Polaris(TM) Destination Control System to increase handling capacity, reduce waiting times for passengers and ensure smooth people flow inside the buildings. KONE will begin installation in June 2016 and the project is set to be completed by late 2017.

The new development will provide new homes, retail, a hotel, community facilities and 4 million square feet of commercial office space across two sites, TIQ South and TIQ North. This is the first phase of a significantly larger development of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford.
