Leaderflush Shapland Focuses on CSR for the Future

The construction industry plays a vital role in the UK economy providing one in ten of us with jobs and contributing approximately 10% of GDP. But one of the biggest challenges facing suppliers is meeting industry demands whilst helping to preserve the world's forests and biodiversity.

Leaderflush Shapland, the UK’s leading performance doorset manufacturer, is committed to policies which recognise its social, economic and environmental responsibilities and continuously strive to further improve its CSR performance which includes targeting energy reduction through meeting the Carbon Trust standard.

A recently introduced Customer Survey aims to continuously improve the service Leaderflush Shapland’s customers receive from initial enquiry through to delivery and for each survey completed and returned, a UK native tree will be planted through the Carbon Managers tree planting scheme. With only 12% of UK land being wooded compared with an average of 32% across Europe, its retention is crucial to help reduce pollution, generate oxygen, maintain wildlife habitats and improve quality of life for surrounding environments.

Leaderflush Shapland was the first company in its industry to develop and implement a BM Trada independently assessed timber tracking system, which meets the requirements of the Forest Stewardship Councils (FSC) Chain of Custody scheme, as well as the government endorsed Central Point of Expertise on Timber Procurement (CPET) environmental timber purchasing policy. Now, at the touch of a button, the company is able to identify the environmental credentials of their products at every stage of a project from the quotation through to delivery.

Leaderflush Shapland’s CSR policy doesn’t stop at energy conservation or sustainability – health and safety, personnel training and development, waste management through our commitment to the WRAP programme and striving to make a positive impact on the local community, working with schools and colleges, making charitable donations, sponsoring local activities, using the local skills base and investing in young people through a graduate and apprenticeship scheme all form part of the Leaderflush Shapland CSR ethos.
