LED illuminated signage for Goodyear

LED illuminated signage for Goodyear

Goodyear operate a large office at Fort Dunlop. It is easy to find because of the large illuminated signs around the building. It can be seen from the M6 when you get close to Spaghetti Junction. Traditionally the signs have been illuminated by hundreds of fluorescent tubes and this has been a constant headache - with tubes often failing and needing expensive replacement.

Signs Now put forward a detailed proposal to replace the tubes with longer lasting and more reliable LEDs. It is more expensive in the short term but there is a substantial saving on energy use, on maintenance and repair and the expenditure is favourably treated by the taxman as qualifiying for ECA (Enhanced Capital Allowance).

Signs Now calculated that the investment would be paid back within a couple of years and would go on to save hundreds of thousands of pounds for Goodyear in the long term. The project has been reported in a number of magazines and newspapers.
