Client: Liverpool Hope University Type of works: Nut Tree planks from Polyflor’s Kudos PU luxury vinyl tile collection Nut Tree planks from Polyflor’s Kudos PU luxury vinyl tile collection were used to complete a stunning interior finish at Liverpool Hope University’s new Eden building.

Designed by Halsall Lloyd Architects and using the most sustainable energy saving features, the Eden building houses the university’s Education Faculty and Business Gateway. Eye-catching lines, contours and interior decoration make this landmark building a stand-out feature at Liverpool Hope University’s campus.

Installed by PCS Flooring of Formby, Kudos LVT was laid in the first and second floor atria circulation areas and side corridors.

“We incorporated the highest standards of sustainable design on this signature building,” explains Bob York, partner at Halsall Lloyd Architects.

“Everything from the use of natural light to the creation of an indoor seminar street adds to the striking, unique design elements that make this building work. The Kudos luxury vinyl tiles offered the sustainability credentials to meet the design requirements and delivered on looks to complement the rest of the interior finish.”

Kudos features a polyurethane surface treatment that protects the floor and assists ongoing maintenance. It is 100% recyclable and is one of four Polyflor LVT ranges to achieve the highest BRE A+ Global certification for major use areas (ENP 426).

Polysafe Astral PUR in Lunar Grey was also specified for the higher slip risk WCs, kitchen and store areas. Featuring Polyflor’s unique, cross linked and UV cured polyurethane reinforcement, Astral PUR offers advanced maintenance benefits, optimum appearance, colour retention and improved soil release. Significant life cycle maintenance cost savings are also achievable over a 15 year period when compared to untreated flooring.

Astral PUR complies with HSE and UK Slip Group Guidelines to give sustainable slip resistance throughout their guaranteed life, achieving 36+ on the Pendulum wet test (Slider 96/Four S rubber) with a surface roughness of 20 microns and above. The product adheres to EN 13845 – the European standard for safety flooring.
