LNG Ferries No 1 & 4

Type of works: design and manufacture of aluminum blast-relief cassette assemblies.

Commissioned by Diesel Power AS, Booth provided the design and manufacture of 6 aluminum blast-relief cassette assemblies forming a total of 200m² for use on the world’s largest Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) powered ferries.

The cassettes followed a full scale testing programme and allow internal blast pressures greater than 10kpa to be vented to the external atmosphere, thus reducing the hull structure and associated steelwork, whilst providing daily weather protection with an insulated lining.
