Lornshill Academy, which was officially opened by football pundit and former pupil Alan Hansen, is one of three new-build secondary schools delivered by Clackmannanshire Education Partnership as part of a £70 million plus PPP project.

The new 3-storey, 1,100-pupil school boasts specialist science, art, music, ICT and drama classrooms, a games hall, gymnasium, dance studio, fitness suite and a state-of-the-art PE classroom.

Architects, 3D Reid, specified 343 doorsets from Leaderflush Shapland’s Designer and Extended Performance ranges. Faced in a selection of finishes, including woodgrain laminates and veneer and incorporating Leaderflush Shapland’s ‘VN’ 4 vision panel design that comply with Part M of the building regulations, Leaderflush Shapland’s performance doorsets were the perfect choice to meet both aesthetic and performance criteria.

The Designer range of flush doors, doorsets and screens combines durability, performance and innovative design for a wide range of educational environments whilst allowing specifiers the freedom to produce unique designs with distinctive vision panels and ironmongery. All the Designer range doorsets supplied to Lornshill Academy incorporate EnduraCor - the durable performance core exclusive to Leaderflush Shapland, specifically engineered to meet the rigours of harsh educational environments.

According to a recent independent test, EnduraCor was shown to be one hundred times more durable than multi-layered chipboard cores. This highly cost-effective solution could significantly reduce ‘whole life’ repair and maintenance costs. It can also help specifiers achieve BREEAM rating as it is manufactured using sustainable materials in accordance with BRE and achieves a Green Book A rating.
