Marks & Spencer, London

11 Sep 2009

Client: Marks & Spencer
Type of works: installation of Jo-Line safety barrier to control vehicle access in the store's unloading area.

What visitors to the Marks & Spencer store at Paddington Basin, an integral part of the retail group's head office development, will not see is the revolutionary 'sticky wheel' safety barrier controlling vehicle access to the store's unloading area.

Developed by the Atlas Group, the Jo-Line safety barrier utilises a steel cable stretched between two pillars. The cable is raised to a height of 1.5m to prevent access, or lowered into a ground level recess to allow entry. Movement of the cable is activated by the Group's patented 'sticky wheel' magnetic drive transfer system that provides many advantages over conventional fixed drive systems, especially with regard to safety.
