Marley Eternit achieves higher responsible sourcing accreditation

Roofing and facades manufacturer Marley Eternit has demonstrated its continued commitment to responsible sourcing with another improved BES 6001 accreditation. As a result, its full range of concrete tiles now achieves the same ‘very good’ rating as the rest of the manufacturer’s clay roof tiles, fibre cement slates and profile sheeting.

This means that developers specifying any of these Marley Eternit roofing products will be able to achieve an additional three credits under BREEAM for the use of ‘very good’ responsibly sourced materials. Housebuilders will also benefit, as responsible sourcing will be one of the materials criteria for the new BRE Home Quality Mark.

The improved concrete rating was achieved by focussing on the responsible sourcing of the raw materials and the supply chain. Gavin White, product manager at Marley Eternit, explains: “Switching to more environmentally friendly and responsibly sourced constituent materials is a high priority for the business. This focus has helped to achieve continuous improvement in our BES 6001 ratings, this year seeing concrete upgraded from ‘good’ to ‘very good’.”
