Mint Hotel, Tower of London

Client: Mint Hotel Tower of London
Architect: Bennetts Associates Architects
Type of works: engineer, furnish and install a glazed roof structure

Novum was contracted to engineer, furnish and install a glazed roof structure over a central reception area for this prestigious hotel in the city of London. To maximize transparency, Novum structural systems eliminate conventional aluminum skylight mullions and use edge clamped glass panels. Novum also incorporated smoke ventilators and a single ply membrane perimeter gutter into the design. The striking grid shell roof floods the reception area with natural light and offers guests serene views of lush exterior ivy clad walls.

Structurally it features the BK system. The mild steel grid structure consists of hot-dip galvanized, powder coated hollow rectangular sections with semi-rigid connections and hidden fasteners.

The glazing is ECG Powder coated aluminum edge clamps hold insulating glass panels in place. Exterior lite is fully tempered with a low-E coating. Inner lites are laminated and heat strengthened.
