The Challenge

Modern paving was required to complement contemporary office building

Bellway Homes has relocated to a new purpose-built headquarter office building. With light and spacious open-plan office space, the move was the perfect opportunity to support the company’s growth. The facility houses 100 staff members and include high-spec welfare facilities including a gym, breakout room and a roof terrace.

Benefitting from a rich landscape setting with long ranging views through 360 degrees, the overall design concept was to create a ‘Pavillion in a Park’. With this in mind, the external design was equally as important as the building itself.

Suitable high-quality paving products were required to complement the new state-of-the-art building including the main entrance area, pedestrian walkways and carpark. As the building was completed to such a high spec, the paving products needed to fulfil aesthetic and design aspirations whilst considering the high level of trafficking throughout the parking areas.

The Solution

Tobermore’s premium Braemar paving complements new office building

The location benefits from a rich landscape setting that allowed Bellway Homes to become a ‘Pavilion in a Park’. A high-spec internal and external design was produced to complete the scheme. Tobermore worked closely with the team to ensure design aspirations were met using suitable products that complemented the new building and its surroundings.

Extensive hard landscaping was used to set off the high spec office space with several Tobermore products being chosen to zone the various areas around the new building.

Award winning, premium paving product Braemar was a must-have for Bellway Homes. The concrete alternative to natural stone with its hard-wearing granite surface guaranteed a luxurious finish to the main entrance walkway. Opting for natural tones with shade Arran Stone in a ground textured finish, the product added real value to the overall project.

Tobermore’s Hydropave Tegula with its ability to function as a SuDs system and reduce risk of flooding was the perfect choice for the car parking. Charcoal was used with contrasting dashed lines of Tegula in Natural to create the parking bays. A herringbone laying pattern was used as a means of resisting the effects of vehicular traffic, providing the best interlock to prevent the paving from moving.

Tegula in the shade Heather was used on the remaining pedestrian areas with its warm tones complementing the red brick façade of the building.

Tobermore have a longstanding relationship with Bellway Homes as their supply chain partner, completing some of the most beautiful housing developments.
