MRI Scanner Building, Little France, Edinburgh

Type of works: installation of Optima® hook-pin rainscreen cladding and bespoke soffits.

Some 3,600m2 of Optima aluminium rainscreen panelling was used for this new-build project for the University of Edinburgh’s Medical Research Institute’s scanner building. The rainscreen panles wrap into the window recesses whilst flue stacks are hook pin curved column panels, fabricated curved fascia and bullnoses with interlocking soffit cassettes.

The panels were designed to comply with Technical Paper Document J and provide a U value of 0.30 Wm2k.
