Mumford & Wood make a ‘stirling’ effort at new Conservation™ product launch

New and enhanced products in Mumford & Wood’s award-winning Conservation™ range were officially launched at The Building Centre this week. The event was hosted by Roy Wakeman OBE, chief executive officer of The Performance Timber Products Group and other senior members of Mumford & Wood.

Special guest, legendary British motor racing driver Sir Stirling Moss OBE, a recent customer of the company, attended the occasion with his architect and building contractor. “I have nothing but praise for these Mumford & Wood doors and windows,” commented Sir Stirling, “and when the refurbishment of my London home is complete Lady Moss and I will be able to fully appreciate them. We love the touch and feel of real wood and it’s good to know they will contribute to our warmth and comfort as well as control the noise of the busy city entering our space.” Recognised as the greatest all-round racing driver in the history of motorsport Sir Stirling went on to deliver many amusing memories of his career. Sir Stirling’s windows were recommended by architect Mike Harrison, Barnsley Hewett & Mallinson (BHM), London SW13: “Sir Stirling would only want the very best,” says Mike.

Recent modifications to Mumford & Wood’s Conservation™ products, a range that includes box sash windows, casements, French doorsets, bi-fold, entrance doors and coordinating garden rooms, has resulted in a collection of high performance, thermally efficient products with superior aesthetics. A combination of modern manufacturing technology with authentic period detailing has earned the brands’ well established premier status.

There is now a choice of single, double and triple glazed windows that are available with a variety of glass unit sizes up to 24mm as standard. The new slim 12mm krypton gas filled double glazed unit achieves the original putty glazed appearance of period windows and is ideal for use where traditional interior and exterior decorative features are to be retained. There is also the option to select Victorian sheet glass for a truly authentic appearance.

All products are now internally glazed for added security and the new colour match and dual colour paint or stain facility is proving popular. The company uses only high quality microporous factory-applied products that achieve a durable, low maintenance finish. Manufactured from the finest engineered and sustainably sourced timber, Mumford & Wood’s windows and doors have an expected life of between 56 – 65 years.

Conservation™ products are BSI A+ rated in accordance with the British Woodworking Federation’s third-party Timber Window Accreditation Scheme, and achieve low U-values that exceed current Part L Building Regulations’. They also carry the BIS Kitemark and Energy Saving Trust accreditations while many products meet Secured by Design criteria.
