Price TWA has installed a natural ventilation system for a visitor centre on the Grade 1-listed Clevedon Pier, providing fresh air for occupants. The centre, which is made up of two floors is set underground using the existing stone walls with a decked area on the roof, now includes wc facilities and an education and meeting space.
The system was needed to provide fresh air for occupants according to carbon dioxide and temperature levels within the controlled space. The system also needs to respond to heavy weather conditions due to the exposed location.
A motorised supply air damper is activated via a time schedule which is designed to open or close according to wind speed. The system has a storm switch override to close all dampers. Wind speed and temperature are monitored with sensors.
