The launch of the new encaustic handmade tile range earlier this year has proved a great success for Artisans of Devizes. Combining durability with eye-catching design, each of their tiles is handmade using the ‘encaustic’ technique. It is an ancient process where coloured cement is inlaid into the body of the tile, so that the design and colour remain, even as the tile wears.

Encaustic tiles have long adorned the floors of palaces, churches and grand homes, featuring an array of decorative patterns and colours. The company’s first collection is packed with a selection of gorgeous designs, from graphic geometrics to intricate swirls and florals.
