The Client:

Based in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, Robert Smillie Memorial Primary School and Nursery currently serves 300 pupils, aiming to provide the very best curriculum and facilities to all their students. With an ever growing intake, the school has recently built a new nursery extension.

Their Brief:

The nursery extension required sanitaryware that would be suitable for the younger children, taking in to account ease of use and accessibility. To meet Scottish regulations all taps needed to be supplied with copper tails and Doc M packs were required to ensure compliance whilst providing staff with a modern accessible washroom.

The Solution:

The Sanitaryware Companies’ SanCeram Education range was specified for this project. Including the Shenley collection which is ideal for nursery age children. The SanCeram Shenley Back to Wall 350 Toilet Pan sits at just 350mm from the floor to the rim, making it the ideal height for young children, perfect for use in early years education settings. This WC was paired with the Tyde Concealed Single Flush Cistern with Palm Push Button. The cistern was supplied pre-assembled for quick and easy installation with the benefit of WRAS approved internals. The palm push button ensures pupils can flush easily to promote excellent user hygiene from an early age.

The SanCeram Chartham range was also used on the project which offers excellent quality and value for money. The SanCeram Chartham Wall Hung 450 Basin with CTH was chosen as it offers a modern, easy to clean design, with overflow to prevent accidental flooding. This was coupled with the SanCeram Basin Mounted Self-closing Mixer Tap which provides easy to use, press action operation. The self-closing feature ensures no water is wasted, helping the environment and saving money with the added benefit of helping to prevent accident floods.

In other areas of the nursey the SanCeram Chartham Beyond Back to Wall Rimless Toilet Pan was installed. This provides a stylish, comfort height and projection pan with easy cleaning and the rimless design ensures optimum hygiene and water saving. For the Care Takers area, the SanCeram Chartham Cleaners Sink with Deva Lever Action Bib Taps was specified. With a hinged sink grate and built in high splash back, this practical Fireclay sink is an ideal addition to the janitorial area and the easy to use, lever operated bib taps are WRAS approved.

Finally a SanCeram Close Coupled Doc M Pack was chosen for the accessible toilet. The pack includes everything needed to ensure a fit for purpose, DDA compliant, accessible, modern washroom. The WC is rimless, ideal for increased hygiene and the blue Grab Rails enable safe, comfortable movement around the area with colour contrast for visually impaired users.
