Newton Waterproofing Systems has been a market leader in the UK waterproofing and damp proofing market since its inception in 1848. Today, the still independently owned company is based in Tonbridge, Kent, and provides complete structural waterproofing and damp proofing solutions for all types of domestic, commercial and civil engineering projects both new and existing. Previous projects range from the Houses of Parliament and the Royal Courts of Justice, to the new Manchester United Hotel Football at Old Trafford. They have also expanded from their Kent home to as far as New Zealand.
As one of the leading trade events in the building and construction calendar in New Zealand, buildnz represented a key opportunity for Newton Systems NZ to present their innovative waterproofing products and their expertise in the waterproofing industry. Buoyed by the expected growth of approximately 10% within the New Zealand building and construction industry within the next three years, the show was one of the most successful ever, creating a huge amount of awareness for both Newton Systems NZ and the need for waterproofing products.
In conjunction with Newton’s exclusive German supplier StekoX, Newton Systems NZ exhibited their range of innovative solutions for every possible waterproofing scenario within the ‘Made in Germany’ pavilion, which presented the opportunities that are available through industry-leading German building technology. Furthermore, when this was combined with the heritage of parent company Newton Waterproofing Systems (UK), which was founded in 1848, a mere 8 years after New Zealand was first discovered, Newton Systems NZ were quickly able to establish their status as waterproofing specialists, and experts in the field.
Tim Baird, Sales and Business Manager of Newton Systems NZ, and organiser of the company’s presence at the show, was extremely happy with the success of the event as a whole, “Our display showcased a range of products never before seen in New Zealand. However, with the credibility of our supplier, our parent company and our BBA certified products, we were able to get even the most seasoned architects, designers and builders to re-evaluate what they thought about the waterproofing of our structures. This was further supported by the depth and range of waterproofing solutions that we were able to present to anyone who attended our stand, and it was an honour for all of us to represent Newton Systems NZ.”
The impact and effort made by the team at Newton Systems NZ also did not go unnoticed by the buildnz organisers. Not only did they receive a visit from the German Ambassador to New Zealand, Anne-Marie Schleich, who was extremely impressed with the range of products on display from StekoX, but they were also presented with the one and only Football World Cup, in recognition of the best display in the entire German pavilion.
