The changes to BS 5534, the British Standard Code of Practice for Slating and Tiling, have been on many people’s minds for the last six months, with a large number of industry professionals learning about and implementing the changes into their everyday roofing practices.
Now that the standard grace period is almost over, the National House Building Council (NHBC) has released a new statement outlining when the changes will come into effect for building projects covered by their Buildmark Warranty. To help roofers and merchants, Redland has developed a free easy-to-understand guide, The Redland Guide to BS 5534, to explain the changes to the Code of Practice in more detail.
In a bid to prepare its members for the impending change in legislation, the National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC), in association with Redland, has created a training course to educate those involved in roofing about the new methodology.
