Olympic Village supplied with Fire Rated Mailboxes

Olympic Village supplied with Fire Rated Mailboxes

The Safety Letterbox Company has recently supplied mailboxes to the prestigous Olympic Village in London.

A leading London based developer installed 120 fire rated mailboxes into the site in an 8 high by 15 wide configuration.

The Safety Letterbox Company in association with the Fire Research Labaratory worked together to create a range of 1 hour fire rated (integrity only) mailboxes to satisfy the integrity criteria given in BS476 Part 22 1987 Clause 8 for a period of 60 minutes.

Fire rated mailboxes have strategically placed intumescent closures to starve a potential fire of oxygen. They also have a special fire rated locking mechanism.

Fire Rated Mailboxes being assembled and tested at our factory in South Wales.

Fire rated mailboxes are available in vertical in front out front type FR1, horizontal in front out front type FR2 and horizontal through the wall type FR3 configurations.

Designed for residential and commercial use FR1 and FR2 mailboxes are designed for internal use. The FR3 mailbox is designed for through the wall use. Weather and vandal resistant the mailboxes are manufactured from galvanised steel in a choice of RAL coloured powder coated finishes. Mailboxes can be further enhanced by applying a finish which would conform to London Underground surface spread of flame requirement BS476 Part 6 & 7.
