The skyline of Frankfurt has had a dramatic redesign with the Palais Quartier re-development which adds to Frankfurt’s list of most iconic buildings. The Palais Quarter is situated on an area of Frankfurt’s well known shopping mile, the Zeil, which previously wasn’t accessible to the public.

However, the reworked area is now alive with people as the combination of the MyZeil shopping centre, the Nextower office block, Hotel Jumeirah and the Thurn und Taxis Palais, which all make up the Palais Quartier, see locals and tourists alike visiting this modern combination urban living site.

As part of the sites rejuvenation, the Thurn und Taxis Palais, which was destroyed during the Second World War, has been rebuilt from the original architectural drawings, and adds a stark contrast between today’s modern architecture and the classic roots of this contemporary city.

The Towers use Guardian SunGuard, High Selective, Super Neutral 62/34 and Super Neutral 70/41 glasses to achieve a clear and crisp appearance. These Super Neutral glasses from our SunGuard range offer optimum levels of thermal performance, with U values of 1.0, as well as high levels of solar control with low solar gain values of 41% and 34%. The clever design of the building also makes best use of the high levels of selectivity which these glasses offer. This allows total visible light transmissions of 62% & 70%, to flood the interiors with optimum natural light, whilst still providing exceptional thermal and solar control performance.

This helps maintain control of the environment inside the buildings by reducing demands on heating and air-conditioning, which would otherwise require even heavier demands to control the environment with such large glazed areas.
