Midland Window Group (MWG) has fabricated and installed AluK's 'next generation' aluminium windows, commercial doors and curtain walling as part of the high performance specification of a new 252-room hotel in Manchester's Greenquarter District.
The Park Inn is one of the latest projects to specify AluK's new Advanced Plus 'A' WER aluminium window suite. The system's groundbreaking design played a key role in securing the contract, says MWG's Director, Manj Sanghera: 'The Hotel windows had to achieve a U-value of 1.5w/m2Km, which we were easily able to meet with AluK's Advanced Plus system,' he comments.
Advanced Plus window sections feature a polyamide thermal barrier to enhance thermal efficiency. This results in an overall U-value as low as1.3w/m2k with a double glazed unit - a heat loss rating that is normally only possible with a more costly triple glazed unit when using most other aluminium systems. Manchester's new Park Inn is equipped to the highest standards for leisure and business travellers, with luxury guest accommodation, five meeting rooms, a Bar and Grill Restaurant, plus a range of leisure facilities including a sauna, spa and pool.
It took MWG just six months to manufacture and install AluK thermally broken aluminium frames for the curtain walling, pivot windows with solar reflective glazing, and automated and standard entrance doors from AluK's commercial range. All frames are polyester powder coated in RAL 9066 - a smart Grey coloured finish - providing a long lasting and low maintenance solution.
AluK's stock and special colours are produced to comply with BS 6496: 1984 and are highly resistant to the pollution and grime that can discolour many other types of frame materials - an important benefit given the Hotel's city location. Summing up the success of its latest project using AluK's Advanced Plus aluminium system, MWG?s Manj Sanghera says: "As well as having a high performance product, AluK's helpful team is always on hand to provide excellent technical support. Their expert advice on a major project like this was invaluable, particularly with detailed specifications and drawings for the complex curtain walling - we couldn't have done it without them."
