Comar Architectural Aluminium Systems, with their approved fabricator PAGE Group (Peterborough) Limited, supplied Comar 2 window walling, Comar 5P.i thermally broken windows, Comar 6 curtain walling and Comar 7 doors for this new build Premier Inn Hotel in Cambridge. A key consideration for the project was that acoustic glazing was installed to both the bedrooms and the barrier glazing in the stair towers.

A striking glazed façade was created using Comar 6 in the main entrance and stairwell. Comar 6 curtain walling stick build with standard capping, pressure equalised externally glazed was selected. External pressure plates, seals and cappings fixed on internal mullions and transoms create large contemporary entrances and glazed areas.

Comar 5P.i high and low level top hung casements and matching fixed lights were internally beaded and fitted with stainless steel projecting friction hinges and an integral restrictor. Duco trickle vents through Comar head extension bars providing minimum free airflow of 8000mm2 per vent were also installed. Comar 2 framing was used for the subframe and Comar 7 pivot doors were installed to the main entrance and fitted with AXIM concealed overhead door closers with a 90º hold open facility and ‘anti-finger trap’ stiles. The pivot doors were internally beaded and glazed with 24mm DG units using a laminated glass to the inner pane and a 14mm Argon filled cavity between the panes.

All Comar systems were finished with a Dark Grey RAL 7043 satin finish to BS6496.

All Comar approved fabricators are required to have the technical expertise to attend pre-site meetings and provide detailing. PAGE Group (Peterborough) Limited liaised closely with the specifiers to provide design advice and detailing which ensured the project ran smoothly and met site deadlines.
