Pro-grass from Wallbarn for Spring 2010
Wallbarns new biotextile fabric is ideal for landscaping in areas difficult to generate good grass growth.
This clever product is a biodegradable fabric, impregnated with grass seeds and fertilizer. It ensures strong, uniform grass coverage on areas where sowing seeds alone leads to erosion by wind, water and pests. It is so much easier than broadcasting seeds or laying turf.
It is ideal for applications like steep banks, road and rail cuttings, river banks, golf courses, parks and sports grounds - anywhere where consistent, good quality growth is required.
Pro-grass is laid onto prepared earth, covered with a thin layer of earth and watered down. The fabric is secured with biodegradable pegs. Because the seeds are held within the fabric, they are settled and stable, so can start to germinate faster than by just laying on the soil. This is a much more efficient method than simply broadcasting.
Because the seeds are impregnated throughout the fabric, uniform coverage up to 90% of the area is achieved. Weeds will be prevented since the earth is covered so unaffected by wind-blown seedlings.
The Pro-grass seeds will start to germinate after approximately one week, and strong grass growth will be established after one month. The fabric will degrade over a few months, helping to feed the plants and leaving just lush, healthy growth.
Wallbarn supplies two versions of Pro-grass a fast growing grass seed fabric, and one seeded with a wildflower mix.
The wildflower mix is manufactured to give a certain amount of grass growth, but also a variety of flowers such as poppies which will flower consistently throughout the summer months. The seeds can be collected and re-sown into the soil for flowering the next year.
