FAKROs extensive range of roof windows is driven by innovation, combining the latest technology with the best in contemporary design and functionality. All are manufactured using slow growing, close-grain redwood pine which is guaranteed to be knot-free, with timber obtained predominantly from FSC certified sources.
In addition to standard windows, Fakro offers almost all of its range in conservation style and can supply non-standard sizes and shapes to bespoke requirements. All are manufactured using the unique topSafe® hinge system for added safety and security (minimum EN13049 Class III) and the V40P automatic air inlet. Manufacturing processes and quality control systems are carried out in accordance with the most exacting European standards.
In terms of product development, windows such as the FTT U8 Thermo have set new standards of design. The quadruple-glazed unit gives the window an overall U-value of 0.58W/m2K, the lowest currently available in a standard product.
The FYP-V roof window operates in a similar way to a centre pivot window but with the axis of rotation situated above the centre line. By raising the pivot point, extending the window height and use of an innovative hinge support system, the sash effectively functions as a top hung window. Increasing the window height by up to 200cm gives a larger overall glazing area without the need to increase width or use windows in combination. The sash can be rotated through 160° in order to clean the outer pane from within the room and the window can be used in pitches from 15°- 90°. It is also available in PVC for areas of high humidity.
Other Fakro products include the stylish Balcony Window in which the top-hung upper sash opens through 45°, while the lower sash slides out to reveal built-in balustrades. Like the FYP-V it has a large glazing area which ensures that natural daylight is maximized and that the window itself can be used as a focal point of interior design.
The patented FPP preSelect® includes the unique facility to change from top hung to centre pivot operation at the flick of a switch in the frame. This new generation roof window is equipped with two independent opening mechanisms, enabling the sash to be rotated through 180° or, when in top hung mode, from 0 to 35°.
All FAKRO windows are designed to be stripped down at the end of their design life for recycling of all components.
Roof Window Accessories
FAKRO roof window accessories include a wide range of internal and external blinds as well as controls to enable automatic and switched electrical operation.
Electronic operation offers scope to open and close a number of windows and blinds as well as rain, wind and smoke sensors. Operation can be by means of wall switch or remote.
In addition to improving the overall functionality of windows, blinds offer the means to control light levels whilst saving heat and energy. The range includes external awning blinds and roller shutters and roller, pleated and Venetian internal blinds which control the intensity of light and provide decorative effect. Aluminium side runners create a fully functional light screen and enable rotation of the window when the blind is lowered. All have been designed for quick installation and to be used with all FAKRO windows other than FTT triple and quadruple-glazed products.
FAKRO EUROTOP N 35 is a three layer, vapour permeable membrane which is used for both cold and warm roofs (including boarded roofs) as a fully supported or unsupported roofing underlay. It has a high tear resistance and offers a unique combination of waterproofing and water vapour diffusion that enables the fabric to vent moisture from the roof space. It can be laid directly onto insulation and used at full rafter height.
Internal, white laminated, waterproof linings are available to improve thermal insulation around windows without restricting light. Linings can be cut using a template to suit the pitches of 20° - 75° and are available in 30 cm and 40 cm widths.
