Kalwall is the most highly insulating diffuse light transmitting skylighting (and cladding) system available. It transmits museum-quality light evenly across the interior without glare or harsh contrasts of light and shade. With Cabot Aerogel a U value as low as 0.28W/m²K can be achieved.
Kalwall is a translucent structural composite sandwich panel. Panels are factory prefabricated to the exact size and configuration for each project. The panel is generally 70mm thick (100mm is also available) and by providing various densities of insulation the thermal resistance and therefore the U values can be varied without loss of light.
Kalwall offer a range of roof systems from standard single panel skylights, supported roof systems, self supporting ridge roofs up to 6 metres wide and vaults able to span up 7.4 metres. Their lightness and strength can result in less structural support and installation is less costly than glass systems. With inherent rigidity and impact resistance, Kalwall is largely self-cleaning and because dirt is less obvious than on glass, frequency of maintenance is reduced.
