Roscommon, Ireland

Client: Coady Partnership
Type of works: supplied Veneto xf linoleum flooring

Linoleum flooring from Tarkett was recently specified as part of a €10m design and build project for new Government Offices in Roscommon, Ireland.

Designed by the Coady Partnership, and built by JSL Group, the new building accommodates the Regional Headquarters of the Property Registration Authority. Tarkett’s Veneto xf linoleum flooring was selected for circulation areas, stairwells and a number of ancillary rooms.

Tarkett has been manufacturing linoleum for over 100 years using natural, renewable raw materials like linseed oil, resin, jute, wood and cork flour. Tarkett’s latest innovation is the new xf surface treatment, which provides superior resistance to abrasion, stains and chemicals. No initial wax or polish is needed and cleaning and maintenance is easier and more economical, with cost savings of up to 30%. Consumption of water, detergents and energy for cleaning is also reduced by up to 50%, meaning Linoleum xf offers excellent life cycle costs.

Around 780m2 of Tarkett’s Veneto xf linoleum flooring was installed by Padraig Fahy Tiling. “We installed Veneto xf in a variety of vibrant colours that add a dramatic finish to the more functional areas of this building,” commented Brian Gaugham of Padraig Fahy, “It’s a great product to work with as it’s really flexible, and very easy to handle and install.”

Tarkett’s ‘Square’ vinyl tiles were specified for the staff restaurant, as Paul Lennon, Lead Architect for the Coady Partnership explained: “We needed a durable, easily cleaned surface that we could lay onto a raised floor while retaining access to the services within the floor void. Tarkett’s Square tiles provided the ideal solution for this busy area.”

Tarkett’s Square range of compact loose-lay tiles have been specifically designed for use in heavy traffic offices and commercial areas. Loose-laying is an ideal solution when access to cables and other service installations beneath the flooring needs to be maintained. The tiles are quick and easy to lay needing no glue or hot welding and it’s also easy to replace single damaged tiles.
