Lifting pliers are commonly used for handling sheet materials such as glass, wood or metal and they offer ease of use and safe handling. Now glass handling specialist, Bohle Ltd, has launched two improved versions of their traditional lifting pliers. Specifically aimed at companies handling large sheets of glass, the pliers are suspended from a crane hook or other lifting device then the sheet positioned between the plates.
As the pliers are lifted, a scissor action moves the plates in towards the sheet until it is captured between the cork lined plates. The sheet can then be lifted and the weight of the sheet acts to make the pliers grip tightly.
The pliers automatically re-open as the load is set down.
The GTP1000 glass transport pliers are suitable for loads up to 1,000 Kg and can lift sheets with thicknesses from 4 mm to 24 mm. During testing the GTP1000 pliers proved particularly effective at handling large sheets of multi-laminate glass.
The smaller GTP500 model is appropriate for materials up to 500 Kg and thicknesses between 3 mm and 18 mm. Like the GTP1000 the 500 Kg pliers are lightweight in construction but sturdy in use. 3 x 2 metre sheets are handled with ease and the action is smooth and predictable.
