Type of works: design, manufacture and installation of a Novum Structures curved, ETFE pillow facade with integral LED lighting system.
Salford Law School wanted to create an iconic lecture hall that would be the focal point of the law campus. Novum assisted the architect in engineering a curved, ETFE pillow facade with an integral LED lighting system. Evenly distributed lights concealed behind the ETFE pillows shine on white boards painted with a reflective coating to create even, diffused lighting across the facade. remaifacade. The computer programmed LED lights can change to any color, remain still or produce a rippling effect. The bold use of color and form in the design creates a lecture hall that shines like a welcoming beacon.
AFP aluminium profiles with an anodized finish hold two layer ETFE pillows in place. For optimal light diffusion, clear ETFE with a matte finish was used.
