Sandtoft celebrates 20-year working relationship with Wing Yip

Sandtoft, a Wienerberger brand, is celebrating its 20 year working relationship with Wing Yip, the UK’s leading Chinese and Oriental supplier, by presenting the owner with a hand carved clay temple dog at its flagship site and headquarters in Birmingham, following the building of a 200,000 sq ft extension.

The extension of the Birmingham development has recently been completed, for which Sandtoft supplied 9,000 of its Europa tiles in Natural Red. The tiles have been brought out of retirement exclusively for this project, therefore matching the original tiles laid on the roof of the superstore 20 years ago.

The Sandtoft Heritage Service team has worked closely with Wing Yip to ensure that the look of the building remains as ornate as possible, which has included supplying distinctive coloured tiles alongside some very elaborate Horned-Roll, Warped-Horn and Ball-Top Finials.

To mark 20 years of working with the Sandtoft Heritage Service, Ian Martinson, Heritage Craftsman, presented the Wing Yip family with a hand carved Temple Dog as a token of appreciation. The Heritage Service is a specialist conservation and restoration service that creates bespoke handmade roof tiles and fittings, and the team has been working closely with Wing Yip as it has expanded in the UK over the past 20 years.
