Sandtoft creates solar solution for clay roof tiles
Sandtoft has launched a new roofing system that enables Solarcenturys C21e solar electric roof tiles to be integrated with its Cassius and Rivius clay roof tiles. Designed by Sandtofts technical team, the fixing solution allows C21e solar tiles to be quickly installed resulting in a neat, weatherproof finish that requires no maintenance.
Designed to offer an authentic slate appearance, the Cassius and Rivius have an interlocking, large format design that results in labour and material cost savings compared to traditional and fibre cement slate.
Nick Oldridge, Sandtofts sales and marketing director, said: High energy prices and government incentives continue to make solar an attractive option for homeowners. Our new system means homeowners can seamlessly combine solar power with two of our most affordable and aesthetic clay roof tiles. In addition, the cost savings achieved by using the Cassius and Rivius compared to natural slate can be used to offset the cost of installing the solar system.
C21e is an aesthetic solar electric tile and an average sized system can provide homeowners with around half of their electricity requirements. The photovoltaic cells used in C21e do not need direct sunlight to work so can generate electricity on cloudy days. No additional planning consent is required.
