Sash & Casement Window Renovation
Ventrolla's timber sash window renovation and repair service focuses firstly on window renovation and secondly on upgrading the performance of sash windows. Existing wooden sash windows are treated to remove any rot and improve any operational issues. The sash windows are then upgraded using the Perimeter Sealing System, which eliminates draughts and rattles.
Ventrolla Renovation Process
Sash window units are carefully removed from the window frame.
Any decaying timber in the units, frame or sill is routed out to expose the sound timber.
Occasionally, new timber is spliced in or replaced where the existing timber is beyond repair.
A unique epoxy resin, VR90, is used to fill the cavities and is moulded to match the existing profile of the timber.
Sash cords are replaced, pulleys serviced and the sashes correctly balanced to ensure smooth operation of the windows.
Ventrolla performance upgrade
Sash windows have a 3mm air gap around the sashes to allow the sashes to slide past each other and operate smoothly. It is this air gap that causes the inherent problems associated with sash windows, such as draughts, rattles, dust ingress and reduced energy efficiency. Once the Ventrolla Perimeter Sealing System has been installed, draughts and rattles are eliminated and heat loss and dust ingress greatly reduced.
Grooves are routed out of the mid rail and bottom rail.
Pile carriers and the correct sized Weatherfin Pile are then installed, making the seal an integral part of the window.
New Parting Beads and Staff Beads that incorporate the Weatherfin Pile complete the seal.
Ventrolla SRS - Sash Removal System is installed
This process ensures all gaps around the window are filled, creating a fully sealed, yet smoothly operating, sash window. Ventrolla's system can also be installed into Casement Windows and other timber windows. Ventrolla prime any exposed timber with their Acrylic Primer that conforms to BS 7956-2000, so to prepare them for a final finishing coat by others.
